Train Operator and TWFU spokesman Eddie talks about the recent industrial murder of Conductor/Flagger Moet McCullum and how NYC transit workers must wage a hard fight against the MTA bosses to secure union control of safety.
TWFU understands that this is inseparable from the struggle to transform our moribund union, TWU Local 100, into a militant fighting force for the deeply exploited and oppressed, 38,000-strong, multiracial, subway and bus workforce. We need a whole new union leadership.
We strongly encourage coworkers to give to the GoFundMe page for Moet McCullum and her family (including twin sister Monet, who is also a subway conductor).
We also encourage our coworkers to give to the GoFundMe page for the family of Lamont Langely, a worker at the Grand Avenue Depot/CMF who was targeted by MTA "beekies" (management's undercover cops) for allegedly sleeping and hit with disciplinary action. These raids are part of the MTA's campaign of terror during contract (non) negotiations with TWU Local 100, Lamont reportedly died soon after from the stress of facing days without pay or even getting fired.
